Spoiler Alert!

Got nothing to do this 3-day weekend? Watch the Gamer. Why? Two words: Gerard Butler. Mmm! But really, it's an interesting take on the future uses of the internet. It's RPG to the next level. Players in the comforts of their homes control the characters in a war game. The characters are real people, getting shot and blown into pieces for real. But to the rest of the world, it's just a game. There was a scene showing that on game night, people all around the world gather to watch the game, kinda like during World Cup.

It's also social networking to the sickest level. The “actors” are at your mercy. If your player happens to be a sex maniac, you'll find yourself doing things you never imagined yourself doing. And you won't be able to do anything about it. You are completely at his mercy, except for the 1 second lag after he gives the command.

In all probability, this fantasy is not impossible. But we can't really have this set up in the real world, for humanitarian reasons. It's still a good exercise for the imagination though. And a kick-ass movie.

Oh, and Dexter can dance!
