At what point does putting in a good word through online groups become unethical? And at what point does unethical become illegal?

And To think that in a Time article, Whole Foods was hailed as one of the best corporations around in terms of transparency and ethical standards. The same CEO even boasted that it is only in their company that everyone knows what everyone earns.
