random thoughts on the impact of law and policy on ICT... and vice versa

The National Geographic Channel had a feature on on-line gaming in South Korea. Apparently, their contestants undergo rigid training. They need to train for “x” number of hours everyday. The team members stay on an apartment paid for by a team manager. They are actually paid from the time they stay with the team. Some of them consider playing on-line as a means of livelihood because they actually earn a lot from playing on-line games. The highlight of their "career" is playing and winning at the World CyberGames. I think the Philippine contingent needs not only more training but most especially, more sponsors. Maintaining these teams apparently costs a lot.
