A lot of people have been complaining about the blackout caused by 'Basyang'. It was massive, and as of this time, most areas in Manila still have no electricity.
The irony is that the complaints are being aired through Facebook primarily, and other social networking sites. I thought there's supposed to be a blackout?
Maybe people were able to charge their laptop batteries, and connect through dial-up (hindi kailangan ng kuryente)?
Or probably everyone (specially the young ones), just flocked to the malls and restaurants, since classes were suspended earlier today. And the sun, as if mocking PAG-ASA, decided to shine upon us.
So in response to an entry posted earlier today, I think the blackout trumped ICT, but only for a short period. All thanks to wireless internet provided by establishments in the metro. Wi-fi is almost a given nowadays--and why shouldn't it? The competitive advantage it provides comes through during times like this, when people need to relate their whereabouts and frustrations to family and relatives after a calamity, or when they need to reach out to those in need.
And yes, also for students whose homework must be submitted online.
