Gone are the days when Filipino citizens are left clueless on what is going on with the country’s politics, laws, and government. Before, only those who were in office and the educated ones were aware of the new bills being passed and who had easy access to the new rules and promulgations made by the Congress or executed by the President. However, things have been different now since the emergence of the Internet. Bills are easily searchable in Google; Administrative Matters issued by the Supreme Court can be accessed in the Supreme Court E-library; all the Philippine laws can be read at the website of Chan-Robles or Lawphil. Different government forms can be printed online. One can know the zonal values of his property just by going to the website of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. One can even have his birth or marriage certificate delivered to his residence just by requesting for it online at the National Statistics Office website (www.ecensus.com.ph).
With today’s technology, almost every news and happening affecting the country and its citizens are made known to the public in an instant -- all the more reason why ignorance of the law and apathy to being involved and making a change are inexcusable.
