I have been a subscriber of Sky Cable broadband internet since last year, as I have been enticed to give its 15-day free trial a shot. Since the first days of cable, our house has always been loyal to Sky Cable, so a trial seemed a no-brainer.
After the trial, we decided to replace our old PLDT DSL connection with the Sky Cable 3MBps plan, which is bundled with the Sky Cable Gold, both of which seemed a good deal at PhP2000 a month.
Anyway, only then did I realize that Sky Cable, in order to control and regulate the use of its bandwidth, had deliberately slowed down the use of torrent, resulting in average download speeds at a mere 40-70 kbps. That's absolutely unfair for a 3MBps connection.
As such, a friend of mine advised me to instead get premium accounts in Rapidshare or Hotfile, two of the most popular file sharing/downloading sites in the world. At a mere PhP 1500 for a six-month account, the deal seemed a very good one.
So I did get two accounts, one in Rapidshare and Hotfile, and the download speed was phenomenal, going to as high as 700kbps during early morning. Ok na rin.
And with the vast use of those sites as a file sharing site, the extent of downloadable stuff was limitless.
Some movie files could be downloaded at Blu-ray quality, and music files could be downloaded without incurring loss in quality (i.e. FLAC files) Ang saya!
Basta wag kayong magdownload ng copyrighted content ha. :P
So, kung may Paypal kayo, kuha na kayo ng Hotfile/Rapidshare account. :)
