For Closure.

Well, the Bar Ops 2010 Saturday Evening Lecture's livestream project died an early death, thanks to Century Park's efficient customer service.

In a nutshell: everything was all set, all we needed to do was make sure that the hotel would be able to provide what we needed in terms of bandwidth. The hotel told us that they still needed to do some installations, and so they couldn't confirm a date for the dry run. And they still weren't ready until after the date they set for their supposed installations.

After the day they were supposed to have completed installing whatever they needed to set up (this was a Saturday, and they were supposed to be ready by Friday), the hotel informed us that they still weren't done and could only install on the next Monday (which was already the week before the first bar weekend), and so, they still couldn't confirm the Monday schedule for for dry run.

We had to give an ultimatum that if they couldn't confirm within the day, we'd just cancel the entire arrangement since we were pressed to coordinate with DILC as well and we couldn't keep on waiting for the hotel to finally fix things. To add a bit more spite, we also told the hotel representative how disappointed in them we were that until then they still hadn't seen to our needs.

Well, no confirmation from the hotel, and we finally just scrapped the idea. But surprise, surprise, by Sunday morning they said that the installations were done, and that they were ready for Monday's dry run (what happened to "we'll only be able to install by Monday?" I wonder.). Sad to say, sometimes the only way to get some things going is to stop being diplomatic and start showing your annoyance and impatience at the inertia.

Oh well, too little too late, the project has been shelved. Maybe next year they'll give us less of a headache.
