An full - blown audit is, I think, one of the most full proof ways of ascertaining the truth behind every anomaly. Auditing a transaction or an event is like rewinding time, retracing each and every step, each nook and cranny to come up with a logical explanation as to how an event happened. An audit, once conducted strictly in accordance with standard audit procedure, is hard to fool.

Most auditors say that if you don't have skeletons in your closet, then you have nothing to fear. Precisely because most auditors believe that there is only one logical answer to each question, along with the given set of facts.

Most anomalies are uncovered due to strict auditing. Now I wonder, why is there no grade audit in the college again? :)
