Google Vanity

The search for one's purpose in life comes with an urgency to be remembered. This may be the reason why people value accolades and honors so much that they put cheap trophies in expensive cabinets.

I remember my friend Karl Javier and his "new form of vanity." At low self-esteem points he googles himself.

And I took on the habit of googling myself once in a while to see if anyone mentioned me in a listed blog or news article. I notice now that the word google is underlined with red, indicating a need for a spell check, but I digress.

Seeing my name mentioned in a blog makes me feel that I am important enough to quote, and thus my vanity is fed. Until of course I find an exact namesake.
