Perez Hilton's blog was also said to have gone down temporarily.
Twitter became unavailable temporarily as thousands of updates came up to spread the news.
Google News service became also inaccessible for a time.
and CNN reported that it received 20 million page views in the hour the story broke.
The scale of response to Jackson's death is unprecedented, so much that it may possibly go down as the biggest mobile internet event in history.
