If there's a will theres a way

Statistics of the National Achievement Tests (taken by high school students on their fourth year and sixth grade)show that mathematics and science continue to be the most difficult subjects in the elementary and high school education. This has been our problem since time immemorial, but to a great degree this has worsen since we are not able to cope with technological advancement. The problem is, addressing this problem has not been on top of this state's priorities (contrary to our constitution). In an age when apps for facebook and iphone can be developed by 9-year olds, we are at a loss in developing tools that can help uplift the degenerating state of education (math and science education in particular). An NGO called Computer Professionals Union (CPU)is currently advocating the development of ICT tools which can be used to address this difficulty of Filipino students in Math and Science. Together with the Ateneo School of Government and IBOP Asia they are developing the Basic S&T in a Box project which basically compiles FOSS and learning modules based on the DepEd prescribed education curriculum. This is part of their organizations advocacy on ICT for Education.
Big and old problems can be solved as we all say if there’s a will there’s a way. I think if I can plant coffee in facebook , and constitutional law can be taught in facebook, math and science can be too (well maybe not in facebook) , but yes technology can be used to improve the system.
