Intellectual Diarrhea

It was done in bad taste. I may somewhat agree with his sentiments but certainly Alfonso Martinez' twitter comments were uncalled for.

With the advent of various forms of communication, also came in the rush of intellectual diarrhea. It was bad enough for people to be tactless but to memorialize such thougtlessness in a public forum is downright sick.

Alfonso Martinez blasted off the receipt of Wenn de Ramas as Best Director and Ang Tanging Ina Mo as Best Picture in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival. A day after the film fest Alfonso tweeted,

"I am sorry, but how the...can a shallow, stupid and over milked movie win best director? Apparently to the magical MMFF grading system, the pinnacle of Philippine cinema is a brainless, rehashed, slapstick movie that would be the laughing stock of any film fest outside the Philippines, OH WAIT! I guess the movie is successful afterall!”

His sentiments were valid but his way of conveying such thoughts were not. Having a twitter account is not a license to lambast anyone. Call me conservative but respect is never out of fad. Technology may have changed the way we communicate but it shouldn't alter the values underlying such communication.

Alfonso tweeted on how such a "brainless, rehashed, slapstick movie" could win the Best Picture, but it didn't cross his mind how such a useless comment be of any help either.
