Last year we saw the further rise of the likes of Charice, Arnel Pineda and Justin Bieber. These lucky people got the biggest break of their lives via the video website “Youtube”. The interest for these people even got more wind through various networking sites like facebook, with people sharing videos, links and comments about how good or great these people are.
In fact, in the year-ender issues of the papers last year in reviewing the “who’s who of 2010” included in their list mostly people who gained fame this way. Last year’s biggest names in showbiz seem to have been made because of these popular websites. Even artists who are already originally part of the mainstream entertainment business took this path by putting up their own channels on YouTube, creating their own social networking accounts, updating the fans and the world of their new gigs and shows through facebook, twitter, etc.
It seems that nowadays, producers could easily get an idea of which artist could easily sell by looking into how many clicks and views they get on a daily basis. With people clicking and sharing on their own will, these artists are given a much wider reach in advertising and selling themselves.
Now, the new year has just started and some people are already getting this much needed break through posting of their videos online. For example, check the story of this homeless guy who in just 24 hours after a video of him was shown, already turned famous and has already been booked for several interviews and some guesting stints.
I just hope though, that this year, we could have instead more of the likes of Efren Penaflorida, those people with more worthy causes, who could get the much needed attention via this same medium.
