Well that's the headline in Discovery News. In a few years or so, it would read:
Humans Sympathize With Animated People!
Well, the phenomenon is happening as we speak. And we don't need scientific tests to verify this. For instance, my brother is very much addicted to his RPG games. I watch him in awe as he curses to high heavens when his platoon of miniature soldiers gets massacred. Affected much, huh.
These games are becoming more realistic as graphic designs become more advanced and well.. more real.
And what about avatars? These "cartoons" are substitutes for one's own picture. Have you seen those ads which say, "Cartoon yourself!"? The end result? A cuter you - a flawless replica of yourself, comic-book style.
And what about romance via Virtual Reality? The Sims game may be a primitive form for now, but one day people would eschew the long road of dating because we'd soon find that a virtual boyfriend/girlfriend is a better substitute. teehee.
Keep this up, and we'll all end up in CyberCourts, talking to avatars of Judges, opposing counsels, stenographers and witnesses - all in the comfort of our homes.
