One would think that something as ubiquitous as wifi access would already be a non-issue for service-oriented establishments like hotels by now.
The problem with our center for operations this year: there's free internet at the lobby, but none in the hotel rooms.
This makes things a bit inconvenient for the academics team, since they still have to rely on the unreliable broadband devices in the rooms. Well, either that or waste time going back and forth from the room to the function room whenever they need to look something up for reference.
Not only that, the lack of internet in other areas of the hotel renders the online services of bar operations (uploading of last minute materials, essentially) practically pointless for the billeted bar candidates. Not that they'd still have time to surf when they should be resting up for the next day, though. Plus, there are still those who aren't staying at the hotel so it's still better to make those tips available online.
Oh well, better than past experience at least, so you won't really hear me complaining. If I remember my barops history right, you still had to pay a ridiculously steep fee for internet access in the function rooms last year. It will only be a matter of time before the hotel can expand their complimentary service to accommodate even the rooms.
One week down, three more to go!

Rania, lipat na raw kayo as Traders Hotel, may internet sa rooms, allowed one laptop to connect via cable.
I wonder how barristers did it back in the day. I can imagine hotel room lines ringing nonstop with calls from other examinees asking for tips, last minute notes, comforting words, etc. And if there were no instant messaging and mobile phones and SMS, they probably stayed together, group studying (but where? ang gulo siguro ng hotel lobbies nun).
Or maybe they just kept to themselves in their respective rooms, insulating themselves from the chaos that is the bar?
Pero good job and thank you sa barops. Despite these obstacles, you guys manage to provide service 24/7. Thanks!
