A report yesterday said that Facebook is set to launch its mobile internet site soon, designed to encourage more mobile internet usage. I’m thinking that this might be connected to the ongoing battle between Google and Facebook over the cyberspace-dom. Previously, Google released the Google Social Search to try to grab a portion of the social networking market which Facebook has been virtually monopolizing since it rose to popularity. This, in addition to Google’s partnerships with Youtube, blogspot, etc. were moves to make Google more ubiquitous and give it a greater part in the lives of internet users.
Apparently, there are high stakes for each company. Social networking sites have become an integral segment of the cyberworld (case in point: how many times do you check your Facebook page in one day?). The interplay of the virtual and actual life promises not only higher revenues from advertisements for these internet giants, but also more influence or clout over the decisions of internet users. No wonder these companies are exploring all possible areas of expansion that they could find. From desktops to laptops to mobile phones. They are now trying to get as close and as ever-present in human life. It’s actually a good move. Not few people sleep with their phones beside them. And with the availability of better mobile phone interface, browsing the internet through one’s cellphone is now easier and less strenuous than it used to be. Hmm.. I wonder what’s next.

all of us are waiting for the next big thing in technology. i think the next big thing are smart furniture. right now the demand for it is so small that only rich people have it. by i think in five years time, people will have smart tvs, refs, cars and that we can also use those furniture to surf the internet. hmmm, how cool would that be!
