This week, Apple released iPad.
As expected, opinions abound on how the iPad will save the dying print industry.
While I doubt the iPad will actually "save" the industry, I am certain that it will give us a glimpse of how future print media will be like.
It will be interesting to see the legal paradigms that will arise with the rise of this medium.
Imagine waking up everyday and just downloading your newspaper instead of buying it or having it delivered to your home.
With the faster flow of information and its slow but sure shift to digital form, I think we will come to a point in the future where paper will be a thing of the past.
The court, I believe, should start exploring ways of making digital evidence easier to present and to obtain. We don't want to reach a point where technology has overtaken us.
The iPad, while unproven, certainly represents society's shift to another era, much like what the iPhone and the iPod has done this 21st Century. How this shift will affect society is still unclear, but judging by the initial reactions, I believe we are in for another significant shift in the way we do things.
The law better catch up with technology, fast.
