I've violated intellectual property laws, so sue me...

Last week I received an email from Sulit.com.ph notifying me that my ad been removed at the request of a law firm ( whose client's intellectual property right I'd supposedly infringed. Here is the correspondence between myself, sulit.com.ph and the law firm:

Hi. I received a notification that my ad has been removed from your site. The ad is no longer available hence I cannot refer to it, but the title read: "FS Brand NEW Authentic Lacoste Shirt Black Size 4". In your email it apears a law firm in the US, Yvonne Sharpy Anti-counterfeiting Paralegal Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C. 866 United Nations Plaza New York, NY 10017, requested to have the ad removed on the ground that their supposed copyright had been infringed. I have contacted their office so that they may substantiate their allegation. (Below is the email I sent to them).

As a long-time sulit.com.ph patron I am disappointed in the removal of my ad as I have not infringed any copyright laws. I request, therefore, that my ad be reinstated.

Thank you for your attention and kind consideration in this matter.

Respectfully Yours,

Don Manebo

"Greetings. I received an email from sulit.com.ph an online classified ads site here in the Philippines notifying me that my personal ad of a Lacoste t-shirt had been removed as per your request.

The ad is no longer available on their site hence I cannot paste a link for your reference. However, the ad title is: "FS Brand NEW Authentic Lacoste Shirt Black Size 4"

Please email me at donmanebo@gmail.com so I can forward you their email notification which includes your request to them expressed in the following manner: "Please consider the following items for removal as they are infringing our copyright... [link to ad]".

I would like to know how and why am I infringing your copyright (or your client's) that it warrants the removal of my ad from sulit.com.ph's site?

I only wish to know so that I may be guided in the future. Thank you and have a good day.

Don Manebo"

Hi! Good Day Don!

You did the right thing of communicating with them about this.

I hope you do understand that if the proprietary owners of the product and trademark demands that these posted ads be taken down, Sulit.com.ph will not be able to do anything.

If we insist not to give in to the request of the trademark owner, it is our own website that is going to be in trouble.

Once these notices has been substantiated and verified, it will be carried out and executed immediately.

Hope that you do understand our website's stand on this matter.

Thanks!

The law firm has yet to reply to my email. I will update as soon as I receive their reply. I am really curious as to how and by what reasoning did they arrive at their conclusion that I'd infringed their right.
