An Inversely Proprotional Relationship

“Eagle Eye” is about a super computer who ordered civilians to do certain things in order to attain her purpose of complying with the mandate of the Constitution of the United States. Her theory was that since the Constitution states that the government should protect its people and perform acts in furtherance of the interest of the country, when the government fails to do such duty, the law allows the calling of civilians in order to execute this constitutional duty of the government. To do this, the computer communicated with civilians through their cellphones, computers and even ATM machines. Because these people couldn’t escape the instructions of the computer, under threat to their lives and their families, they executed her orders with no question.

The movie is a perfect illustration of how technology has begun to rule our lives. Our cellphones and laptops have become attached to our hips that the idea of losing one is unspeakable to most. It seems that as progress continues to make our lives better, the less independent and productive we become. We have become so co-dependent that while there is significant advancement in society, people on the other hand become mere puppets of technology.
