Off-shoring

For the longest time, I found myself complaining about how so many college graduates in the Philippines have been leaving their field of study to go to call centers. Of course I do understand that the job pays pretty well for the fresh graduate, but why do so many forget their passions and dreams in the call center industry.

Nothing beats economic logic.

In the developed countries where capital is cheap and labor is expensive, so many corporations have done off-shoring. They began by producing their merchandise in developing countries, such as the Philippines. And now, even services have been off-shored. The most obvious being the medical transcriptionists and the call centers. So many have taken advantage of the good english speaking population in the country.

Again, nothing beats economic logic.

I would like to believe that there is something good coming out of off-shoring. Economically, it may be obvious among the companies and workers of the off-shored services. But outside commerce and into the homes of those people losing jobs in developed countries and those who gain jobs in developing countries, what good has it really done?
