Good O'l Christmas Cards

Last Christmas and New Year's Day, as I have always expected, I received several text messages from friends and relatives greeting me as well as my family for the occasion. From a simple "Merry Christmas!" or "Happy New Year!" down to the most elaborate and creative Christmas and New Year "quotes". It is so funny because some of the greetings were just recycled and I knew it because I have an extra SIM card where I stored some messages I really liked, the oldest of these were sent to me as early as 2001. On the other hand, it is also quite sad because I realized that Christmas greetings are not that personalized as before the advent of SMS and e-mails where each person could receive a couple of Christmas greeting cards from friends or relatives with their hand-written greetings "coming from the heart". Maybe I am just old-fashioned. Maybe I'm not. Nevertheless, I just wish that the habit of sending greeting cards will be back again.
