Letterhead
When I heard that the lawyer of the so-called Alabang boys will possibly face disbarment proceedings for his alleged unauthorized use of a DOJ letterhead to draft the release order for his clients, I couldn't help wondering if a paperless policy would have made these irregularities much harder to pull off. I think it would in the sense that it would be much harder to gain access to the e-mail account of the justice secretary or the official concerned than to draft an order in official letterhead and pass it off as the real thing. Of couse, the former won't be foolproof, but it would be much easier to follow the trail and pinpoint the persons responsible. Perhaps our policymakers can explore this possibility and think of ways to better address these anomalies. Meantime, lawyers are in the news again...
