Gov.ph

How much more ineffective can the government really be as it ventures into the world wide web? With most people having a heck of a time personally trying to squeeze something out of the usual bureaucratic drones face-to-face, one wonders just how much effort would these same people exert for someone who might as well have been a million miles away. From what I can gather, based on my limited experience with gov.ph sites, e-governance seems to be a very effective tool for pushing information over the internet - especially those achievements, awards, commendations that we all so desperately need to know. I have admittedly found these sites to be useful more than a handful of times, especially since we started doing OLA. I also understand that some government websites also allow for some handy online transactions. NSO Certificates of all kinds - birth, marriage etc - can now be requested online and delivered right to your doorstep. I have yet to try actual two-way communication using any of the "contact us" forms or e-mail addresses, but here's to hoping that they are actually answering those queries whenever you see them staring intently at their monitors while ignoring you over at the counter.
