my virus scanner died on me...

ok not died...something else happened, i just don't know what...

i'm one of those people who ignore updates and what-nots, i figured if my computer is running then nothing is wrong with it...until ofcourse an error message pops up and tells me that "the virus definitions required by Norton Internet Security are not valid. You cannot run a scan until this problem is resolved". underneath this message is a link. i tried updating but the pop up message won't quit...it's frustrating to not get your money's worth...*sigh* so much for "paid-ware" i am forced to download a free scanner from the internet just so i have something to make sure my laptop is not infested...
